How odd that this would be the request for today.
My lovely wife decided to bake some lovely treats for a small gathering we're hosting to celebrate the release of The Devil Wears Prada on DVD. (did you buy yours yet?) One of the lovely treats she decided to make is Corn Flake Wreaths. And you know how they have those little red hots on 'em? The "berries" that are hard enough to crack your teeth? Well, I was given the assignment of "picking some up" while I was out today.
Let me say this: NYC is a place where you can do almost anything. If you want to walk in the woods, you can. If you want to get some rare cigar or something, you can. If you want to see where George Washington bade farewell to his troops after the Revolutionary War, you can.
You cannot, however, find these stupid red hots.
I kid you not: I spent a total of three hours today looking for them.
Three.
Hours.
After hour one, it was truly a mission. I was not going to stop until I found them. Thank goodness I'm unemployed.
If you're sent on a similar mission in this suck town, please let me be your martyr and just head straight to the Food Emporium in Union Square. They're at the back of the shelf behind the Assorted Fruit Flavored Decors under the icing.
And I reign victorious.
