What single event changed your view of the world for the better or for the worse?
Submitted by iASHLEY.
There have been a few, obviously, but I think the biggest personal change has come from Bea's birth. And just having her around.
I think about stuff... differently.
Why do you live where you live?

Work, thank God.
What story from your wild-and-crazy youth would nobody believe about you today?
Unfortunately, I don't think there are too many stories about me that people would have trouble believing.
I've never been what you might call an "inhibited person." I'm more inhibited nowadays than the old days, but that's not saying too much.
I was dumbiniscing a short time ago about when I would ride in Jenny K's El Camino, and would climb out the passenger side window, into the bed, and back. While we were driving. Down I-94. At, um, fast speeds.
What an idiot.
That stuff, the "I'm-pretty-sure-I'll-survive-this" stuff, has been weeded out. I think that came with age and responsibility. And getting hitched.
What's the weirdest baby name you've ever heard (or considered)?
Hey! That's a fun Question of the Day, considering.
The Lovely Virginia and I woke up one morning in NYC and were discussing uniquely cruel names we could give to our (then) hypothetical child. We landed on one that we particularly enjoyed, but it unfortunately requires a little dialogue to get its full power.

A. Lucas Sommer?
A. Lucus
Here. But just Lucus is fine.
Teacher
Wait... A. Lucus Sommer? So your initials are A.L.S.?
A. Lucus
Yeah.
Teacher
Wow. That sucks.
A. Lucus
Yeah. I know.
Teacher
You know that's a disease, right?
A. Lucus
Yeah. My parents are j-holes.
Teacher
So -- what's the "A" stand for?
A. Lucus
It's not -- just call me Lucus, okay?
Teacher
But what does it stand for?
A. Lucus
I don't talk about it.
Teacher
You don't talk about your name?
A. Lucus
No.
Teacher
Okay. You don't have to talk about it. You don't have to tell me what --
A. Lucus
Awesomemonkey.
Teacher
What?
A. Lucus
Awesomemonkey.
Teacher
What is that?
A. Lucus
My name. What the "A" stands for. Awesomemonkey.
Teacher
Your parents named you "Awesome Monkey?"
A. Lucus
Awesomemonkey. One word. Awesomemonkey Lucus Sommer. A.L.S. Here.
Teacher
Holy... crap.
A. Lucus
Yeah. My parents are j-holes.
Which band or artist which is no longer performing or alive would you have loved to have seen?

Ray Charles. Or Nirvana.
Oh, and Nora laughs now. A lot.
If money were no object, which five luxury items would you rush right out and buy?

- A Mega-Awesome GPS System. One that tells me where to avoid because of traffic. And that says the street names out loud. I know there are GPSs that do those things that aren't unreasonably priced, but I don't own one.
- A house.
- A button I could push that would make it so that our movers would have brought our each and every worldly possession by now. My soul dies a little with each passing day that the TV (which we bought at Target so we wouldn't go crazy) is sitting on its own box as a stand in the middle of the room.
- Another car, which would bring us to the nice round number of: Two cars. The beauty is that we will actually be doing this in the next couple weeks, although it won't be the car it would have been if money were no object.
- A $1B gift certificate to the world for my lovely wife. She's nice and she deserves it for putting up with me/living on the floor because our each and every worldly possession isn't here (see #3).
So there you go.
What is your favorite board game?
Submitted by I'm Unique.
See, now... that's a tough question for someone like me. I have a few favorites. I happen to like games. A little bit. But the question wants me to narrow it down, so here goes. I would probably have to choose Memoir '44 by Richard Borg. It's a fairly simple WWII game, and while easy to learn, there are several different ways to play it, and I like that. I still haven't picked up any of the three expansions, which will bust open the variety even wider.
As a nerd, I have tracked what games I have played and when for the last couple years. Memoir '44 tops the list with the most plays, but Bohnanza is nipping at its heels.
What song or lyrics are stuck in your head at the moment? What album is it from?
Submitted by Lox Ly.
Right this very second, it's the title track from Martin Sexton's Black Sheep. The Lovely Virginia is in Minnesota right now, so it's just been me and PJ for the last couple days. Last night, we pulled out the ol' Ovation and had a little hour-or-maybe-two Martin Sexton singalong. It was fun.
The whole thing got started because we are both currently loving "So Long Suzanna" from In The Journey. When we went camping with Matty, we listened to that tune about fifty times. Two nights ago, we were feeling a little nostalgic, so it got played again. And last night we figured the chords out and played it a hundred more times.
I love it. Here: you should listen to it. Let me know what you think. I think it's pretty and sort of sad.
P.S. Now the song stuck in my head happens to be "So Long Suzanna" by Martin Sexton. Go figure.
How well do you know your next-door neighbors?
Ha. Ha.
We don't know them at all. We live near the corner of our apartment building, so we really only have one neighboring apartment. And the dudes who live there are freaking nuts.
The first time we heard them fighting, there was a well-timed clap of thunder that we were positive was a gunshot. That was awesome.
The cops have come to visit them twice (that I know of) because, I'm guessing, of the screamed death threats and whooping sobs.
The cries of, "I'm bleeding, you bastard!" and "Don't you know how much I f___ing love you?" and "Where the f___ is the f___ing remote, you piece of s___?" have awakened us more than a thousand* times.
Yeah. They're gone for the summer, and we're not too sad about it.
* - that's only a slight exaggeration. but it's been at least fifteen, which feels like a thousand. trust me.
Do you have any tattoos? If not, if you were going to get inked, what would you get?
I don't have any, but that's only because I've been afraid to get one for fear that there would be some point where some makeup artist would get royally pissed when they're trying to cover it up for a part. Plus, there's that whole "needle phobia" I have.
I have thought about it from time to time, and it's something I still would consider doing someday. Maybe.
I've considered a sweet little Wild Draw 4 card somewhere, or at least the four-color swirl that was on the old-timey Uno cards of yesteryear (the new ones are hideous).
My dad mentioned that he and my brother have discussed tiny Browns helmets on their shoulderblades. That's a distinct possibility, especially since orange would be easy to cover up, if the need should arise.
(My wife is going to kill me when she reads this.)
