Raise your hand if you would choose not to skip the song "Heartlight" by Neil Diamond, if it came up on shuffle while you were working out.
...how much I love this kid.

1. I got to feed Bea for the first time. In preparation for an outing The Lovely Virginia was going on today, I had to opportunity to feed Bea from a bottle. It was awesome. She didn't take to it right away, but she eventually figured it out and was a champ, as usual. She has been an awesome eater from day one. It's a load off our minds, since we had heard horror stories of babies who wouldn't latch on, etc. Sure, she's not the best sleeper in the world... But we take what we can get. We still love the crap out of her.
2. I received my invitation to the SAG Awards ceremony. As you may have heard, Mad Men has been nominated for Best Ensemble in a Drama, and I am named as one of the nominees. It's incredible. I have always loved the SAG Awards, and this year will be even more exciting for several reasons. First off, it's the 75th anniversary of the Screen Actors Guild. Secondly, um, our show is nominated. And third, this is one of the only award ceremonies going untouched by the WGA strike. It's going to be a helluva party. You can watch the awards on January 27, at 8pm/7pm Central, on TBS and TNT. I can't wait. We're in a stacked category (against Sopranos, Boston Legal, The Closer and Grey's Anatomy), but it's going to be an incredible night either way.
And now, why the day before yesterday was also awesome.
I was at Barnes & Noble and saw Charlie Gillingham, keyboardist for Counting Crows, enter the store. I tried not to geek out too much, but had to tell him how much I love his work.
I've seen Counting Crows live several times. He has always been my favorite member of the band to watch. I love him.
It was awesome.
The song the doctors had playing in the O.R. while Bea was being born via C-section?
1. If you haven't seen Once, and you happen to be someone who enjoys love or music or beauty or gladness or sadness, rent or buy the DVD when it's released on December 18. Oh, it's good. And Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová are amazing. Listen to them make pretty music.
2. If you get the chance to see The Swell Season, the group headed up by Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová, do yourself a favor and buy a ticket. They put on a helluva show. We had the chance to see them last night, and they were phenomenal.
3. How awesome is this picture of my daughter? "Very," I would say. Less than five weeks to go!

Seriously.
'Sup? Oh, not much, thanks.
- Work is going really, really well. I have nothing to complain about. At all. I am generally happy when I am there, and even the boring times seem to be enjoyable. I heart it.
- Have you listened to Wilco's new album? Yes, I know it's not like their other stuff. But I don't know their other stuff, so when the music dude on CBS Sunday Morning recommended it, I bought it. Because I am ninety years old and hang on that show's every word. Anyway, the album is awesome. Check it out.
- The Lovely Virginia and I have embarked on a couple hikes so we can take advantage of our new home state's scenery. I bought a book covering several hikes in the area, and we've been having fun. You'll notice that there isn't much shade in the second and third photos. That's not a photo trick -- there wasn't any shade. And it's apparently a desert. It. Was. Warm.
- Yesterday was the first day of the second trimester of gestation for the baby The Lovely Virginia and I are expecting in December.
- Did you catch #4? WE'RE HAVING A BABY!
- Life is very, very good right now.
Which band or artist which is no longer performing or alive would you have loved to have seen?

Ray Charles. Or Nirvana.
Oh, and Nora laughs now. A lot.
Okay. I am a sporadic blog-write-guy. Sorry.
I've been thinking about lots of little things to write about, but I always knew it would mean a big update post, so the pressure got to me. Now I'm here to face my fears.
THINGS I'VE BEEN THINKING LATELY:
-
You know how some Cadbury Creme Eggs can get that little crack where air gets in and the cream inside (is it technically a "fondant"?) turns somewhat grainy and hard? I've had quite a few of those in my day, especially here in NYC, land of "hey, I'm twelve and there's something I can squish as I walk by on my way to steal some condoms from the pharmacy." Well, I had a Creme Egg last night that Blew. My. Mind. It was airtight, and the (cream/fondant) was perfectly composed; just cracking the shell almost made this tiny little "pffft" sound as the insides breathed their first air since being lovingly sealed at the Cadbury plant in Heaven Above. Damn, it was good. I wish it was Easter every Sunday.
- Twilight Struggle is my new favorite two-player game when you have more than two hours to kill. I know: People say it's slightly skewed toward one side. But the USSR needs all the help it can get, am I right? (That was not intended to make any sense whatsoever.) Anyway, I've spent about 12-14 hours on this one this month, and it's hitting the table again today. It's. So. Good. Oh, and: I. Am. A. Nerd.
- If you have the chance, check out this Iron & Wine concert from NPR. It's so freaking good.
- Remember eight million years ago (read: September 24th) when I posted that I was going to have some good news to share? Well, it's literally taken since then for me to lock down the info. It's done: The Lovely Virginia and I are moving to Los Angeles! I knew when I posted this that they were planning to take us along, but I only put pen to paper about two weeks ago. It's been a little stressful, to say the least. We start shooting in late April. It's crazy and wonderful and terrifying. We booked our movers yesterday. We're outta here in about two weeks. Yikes. So there's that.
- I booked a Cingular "dropped call" commercial that shot in Los Angeles about two weeks ago, so The Lovely Virginia and I took the opportunity to take a little scouting trip. We like it there. Here's us in our new habitat:
