Why yesterday was awesome.

1. I got to feed Bea for the first time. In preparation for an outing The Lovely Virginia was going on today, I had to opportunity to feed Bea from a bottle. It was awesome. She didn't take to it right away, but she eventually figured it out and was a champ, as usual. She has been an awesome eater from day one. It's a load off our minds, since we had heard horror stories of babies who wouldn't latch on, etc. Sure, she's not the best sleeper in the world... But we take what we can get. We still love the crap out of her.
2. I received my invitation to the SAG Awards ceremony. As you may have heard, Mad Men has been nominated for Best Ensemble in a Drama, and I am named as one of the nominees. It's incredible. I have always loved the SAG Awards, and this year will be even more exciting for several reasons. First off, it's the 75th anniversary of the Screen Actors Guild. Secondly, um, our show is nominated. And third, this is one of the only award ceremonies going untouched by the WGA strike. It's going to be a helluva party. You can watch the awards on January 27, at 8pm/7pm Central, on TBS and TNT. I can't wait. We're in a stacked category (against Sopranos, Boston Legal, The Closer and Grey's Anatomy), but it's going to be an incredible night either way.
And now, why the day before yesterday was also awesome.
I was at Barnes & Noble and saw Charlie Gillingham, keyboardist for Counting Crows, enter the store. I tried not to geek out too much, but had to tell him how much I love his work.
I've seen Counting Crows live several times. He has always been my favorite member of the band to watch. I love him.
It was awesome.

Congrats on the feeding! There is always something special about being able to do that!
(oh... and congratulations on the SAG nomination as well)
Here's a suggestion, not sure if you are doing this currently for your lovely wife... Take over Friday and Saturday night feeds/changings now that Bea is taking the bottle. I did this from the third month on until around the sixth month for my wife and she sooo appreciated the extra night's rest. I bonded more with my daughter during those two feeds/changes. After the first week it started to get to be routine and I looked forward to it. Then Gillian dropped her night feeds to one and then eventually all together and then wouldn't take a bottle at all, the brat.
But believe me, its a small sacrifice on your part and your wife will really benefit. Just a little advice from one dad to another. Oh, and sleep training. HIGHLY recommend looking into that. We have our nights free from 7pm until 6am and love it (since 7 months on...)
Congrats on the Mad Men/SAG nomination. That is awesome!!!
Happy New Year!
Sweet Bea is cuter every photo/video:) Can't wait to meet her.

Congrats on the nomination, and not just a generic nomination, but you said your name was in it, which I feel is way impressive!
Go Mad Men!!!
