Coupla things.
1. I watch Night Court reruns. They're on TV Land every weekday morning, and I DVR them and watch them. I watch them for almost entirely nostalgic reasons, but I will say that I found them to be about 75% cheesy, and about 25% genuinely funny. I legitimately find parts of them funny. I think this may be a sign of some deficit in my sense of humor, but further research is required.
2. We have started shooting season two of Mad Men. This makes me happy. The scripts have been amazing, and it's been wonderful being back at work with so many people I respect and adore. Also, at work the other day, Bryan schooled Aaron and me at No Thanks!. I exacted my revenge via a rousing game of Loco!. I will make game nerds of them all. And maybe we will play games whose names don't end in exclamation points.
3. Bea has started giggling once in a while. Yesterday, I was chatting with The Lovely Virginia and holding Bea in my left arm. My right hand was holding a pen, clicking it. Out of nowhere, Bea started giggling at the pen. It. Was. Awesome. That kid is funny/nice/lovely/loud.
4. My friend Andy continues to make awesome videos. He recently got a very super-awesome guest star for a video celebrating the 25th anniversary of Return of the Jedi. Please to watch, and subscribe to his new YouTube channel, Zilch Zone:

1. You can forgive Night Court for an automatic 15% of cheesiness since it's from the 80s, so that makes it 60% cheesy, 25% genuinely funny, and 15% 80s.
2. We are so ridiculously excited about season 2. When does it air?
3. I still remember when Aaron started smiling and laughing as the parting of the dark clouds of raising a baby. Oh, that sweet, sweet positive feedback.
4. Why is that video not the number one thing on YouTube? It deserves to be, because it is the number one thing in my heart.
5. You totally need a fifth thing, dude.
2. Okay you can't make this stuff up. There is a big camping trip/festival/vacation thing I go on every summer. Well mostly every summer. This summer I'm not going. Because uhh... even though we don't have an exact date, I'm pretty sure it will conflict with the first (or possibly) second episode. I just can't. Not this summer. Can't. Be. Out. In. The. Woods. for the premiere.
3. People always tell James Lipton that their favorite sound or noise is the sound of their child's laughter. I don't have one (a child) but I've got eight (8!!! with two more on the way!) nieces and nephews. I write/talk a lot about Benjamin, who is perfect and just turned two. I can listen to the sound of that little laugh for ever.
4. Niiiice video. I like.
5. You kind of need a fifth thing.
6. Nice blogroll, dude!
1) I want to find "Night Court" funny. I really do. Advice? What am I missing? - This show was the cause of a break-up once. I just didn't find Harry Anderson entertaining (probably the magic thing, I kinda hate magic tricks). Though in my defense he never found "Always Sunny in Philadelphia" funny and I always end-up in a fetal position crying from laughter when I watch that show. We were fundamentally different I suppose. So looking back, I should thank "Night Court". Ok. DVR set. I'll give it another try ;) I'm trusting ya.
2) Suh-weet and congrats on the working. :) And, I had meant to ask this before, but now you answered it. Card games are included in your geek. Awesome. What's your opinion on Mille Bornes?
3) Babies are amazing, unselfish little entertainment units. They give so much so easily. Super congrats on that. :D !
4) I got 8 words for ya: The Ewoks and Star Wars Droids Adventure Hour - Hehe. And your friend's vid is great. I'm gonna viral it on a bulletin off my MySpace page. Or a blog. - Thanks!!
5) Monk would want you to have a 5th thing. Four is even, but when doing a list, you need to end on a multiple of 5 :) Everyone else was doing it ;)
As always, thanks for posting! Great fun!
1. Night Court was funny in the 80's. I remember it well, because I'm old. For one thing, rather than using catchphrases (e.g. "what'cho talking about, Willis"), it had recurring jokes (e.g., Harry's love of Mel Torme, Dan Fielding's redneck past, etc.). That was unusual in 80's sitcoms, where characters usually reset from week to week.
2. I am so glad that you are working, because anything that leads to more episodes of Mad Men is awesome.
3. I'm not religious, but I would definitely put giggling babies in the "evidence in favor of the existence of a God" column.
4. I have no speakers, so I will have to wait until I can get to a bespeakered computer to watch the video. However, I have never seen Return of the Jedi....or any Star Wars movie, for that matter. Even though I'm married to a man who owns a Darth Vader costume and a beer cooler shaped like R2D2.
I do agree that Night Court is a good show, My sister Megan and I used to watch it! Now I have to be in the right mood to watch it, but I do enjoy it!
I started re-watching the first season of your show, because that's how much I like it! Like rewatching anything, you can pick up on things you missed the first time... but I am ready for season 2!!!
My daughter Drea has the best laugh in the entire world! I have 3 kids, and shouldn't play favorites, but she really does have the best laugh! When we are out in public and she is laughing, random people start laughing because it's so cute! I want to bottle it and sell it or crabby people to get happy, I think it would work! I'm glad that Bea ia laughing, it really is a fun thing to hear!
I loved the video, and it reminded me of an ewok board game my grandparents had when I was younger, when my son got obsessed with star wars I wanted to get it from my grandparents for him, but they got rid of it, and I was oh so sad!
1. I miss the days of watching Night Court with my brother.
2. I love the abundance of nerdery that he unleashes upon the world.
3. His daughter is definitely the funniest person I know.
4. Andy is a genius.
That's it. Four responses, for four statements. No need for a fifth.
Ok, here's a fifth.
5. I miss the U.S.A. It's nice there.
Lucky sods. Enjoy it. If the weather over here is any preface to what global warming will do to our planet, I'm DEFINITELY recycling from now on.
